The Problem With Whitney Gould

Ms. Whitney Gould is the architecture writer for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Ms. Whitney Gould (Featured in Milwaukee Magazine's August, 2007 issue) does come from a "good family", has a credible history of formal schooling and has established a record of professional writing. But, Ms. Gould is NOT "educated" as she lacks courtesy. I have sent her notes: Praising her columns; Criticizing her writings or opinions; Suggesting topics for future columns; And (Perhaps, not gently) reminding her that good architecture is first good engineering and only thereafter good design or art---To which she has not demonstrated even the courtesy of acknowledgment, let alone meaningful comments in reply (Except, perhaps, on one, very long ago, occasion). In fact, I have stopped sending her any notes from my "commoner" level of society as it appears that I am neither rich nor powerful enough, in her restricted world, to merit her attention and good manners.

Or ... maybe you're just an ignorant obnoxious bombast who doesn't merit a response in any civilized society.

Ah---Another Whitney Gould wannabe and supporter. I am so glad that this person shows the courage of her/his convictions by the out-of-sight (And, now, out-of-mind) comments.

Obnoxious I may be; But, never a cowardly serpent.
