Thomas Jefferson's Private Letters

There was much made of President Thomas Jefferson's private letter to a church group, this letter being frequently quoted as to building an artificially high wall between churches and the public forums and sectors (eg "Prayer Days", school graduation ceremonies, Christmas decorations and use of Christian songs in schools and other public places).

Perhaps, we (Especially our judges and politicians) should pay more attention to such of that man's private letters as:
"On every question of construction carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates and instead of trying what meaning may be squeezed out of the text or invented against it, conform to the probable one in which it was passed." --Thomas Jefferson, letter to William Johnson, 1823.

All might consider the words of President Jefferson as to watering the tree-of-liberty with the blood of patriots and tyrants AND as to the fact that an unarmed man is NOT a free man.

Defining Religious Freedom

"On 24 April 2020 the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel printed three essentially anti-religious or atheistic (However, atheism was declared a religion by the US 7th Circuit Court Of Appeals) letters from readers. Those writers all appear to be supporters of the "negative view of religious freedom".

"Negative Religious Liberty" means, in today's world, that no one should be harmed for what they believe (Including "moral" imperatives") or rituals practiced and statements made as to Faith---As long as such are kept out of public forums and NOT considered in voting for candidates or making public policies. This is the "liberal" or "secular humanist" position or standard which, of course, excludes religion-based "moral" choices (eg As to politics, abortion, war and other like and "hot" topics) as are likely to be in opposition to those held by "liberals" or "humanists" from even being considered by the general pubic, law makers, judges, ETC.. (This is, of course, the current and perverted interpretation of the first part of the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, the so-called "separation clause"!)


"Positive Religious Liberty" supports the full "free exercise of religion" (The second clause of the First Amendment) by allowing, if not encouraging, "Believers" to proclaim the tenets and practices of their religions in ALL forums; But, also and more importantly for this discussion, to have the ethical, moral and faith-based aspects of religions be accounted as valid issues and frameworks for voting and other public decision making.


Those letter writers should remember that Western Christianity was basic to: The founding of all real universities (The well sources of the science they tout); "Natural Law" as the basic guide to human dignity and freedom; The battles against enslavement of humans as specially demonstrated by the British and USA in the 1800s; The development of art and music; And, most of which is humane in humans. Even in war it was Western Christians who developed the "just war theories", Geneva Conventions and other laws-of-war which "make the best of a bad thing". It has been and is a traditional Christian sense of charity in which our government, agencies and individuals who have given so much to the poor and distressed in the world in wealth AND blood, limbs and lives.


Without Western Christianity and the American exceptionalism which has been in place, your writers would be living in: The deadness of a 1984 socialist tyranny; Or, in mud huts fearful of failing crops or barbarian raids.

Yes, I am aware many (Especially bishops) in favor of "amnesty" for illegal immigrants (NOT "undocumented aliens") and even "open borders". Yes Mr. Bill Clinton: Words Do Matter!!!

Ex-president "Bill" Clinton has very recently stated, in effect, that "words do matter" and that they can lead to violence. I agree! The following words come to my mind.
1. "Give me liberty or death!!"
2. "If this be treason, make the most of it!"
3. "When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. ...".
4. "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes!"

These 1770s words might be as applicable today as then. It would take very little to adapt the Declaration Of Independence to fit the true nature of too much of the Federal government of this era. The distance between the patriots of our first revolution and the government they opposed was in terms of sea-miles; The distance between our patriot-citizens of today and the government they oppose is measured in terms of concepts, power and arrogance.

"Who's Hosting The Tea Party?"

The most recent issue's of the Shepherd Express (So well known and beloved by us as the most radical weekly rag in this galaxy)had a front page asked the question: "Who's hosting the tea party?". It then provided its own list of people/organizations as hosts and funders. being those American industrialists and leaders who do real work in the real world AND provide like, non-bureaucratic, jobs for thousands.

My list is different and includes the following:
1. Patrick Henry;
2. The "Christian Militias" of Concord and Lexington who used deadly force to prevent tyrants from seizing their cannon (WMD) and gun-powder (Unauthorized explosives);
3. John Hancock, Thomas Jefferson and the other signers of the Declaration Of Independence;
4. The Adams family and citizens of Boston and the North-East who dumped tea into the water, attacked the houses and persons of government officials and who applied tar and feathers to certain anti-democracy persons as well as seizing and burning a British revenue ship;
5. The soldiers of Valley Forge who endured and with fellow Americans (And some French and Polish troops in French service) earned our nation's independence by blood and other sacrifices;
6. The soldiers of the Union Army called to service to preserve the Union, but many of whom fought to destroy the enslavement of people by White, Black and Native American slave holders;
7. The largely volunteer troopers who liberated Cuba and the Philippines, both now independent nations and NOT subject to US authority and law;
8. Such good men as Harry S. Truman who destroyed the aggressive empires of Germany and Austria;
9. The "Best Generation's" troops and workers who defeated the truly "Evil Empire" of Japan (With its "rape of Nan-King", "comfort women". etc.) and the even more evil and genocidal Nazi empire;
10. Those who fought in Korea and (As I did) kept watch during the "Cold War" to keep such monsters as J. Stalin and Mao from ruling the world;
11. Those who are now fighting against those who follow in execute the worst teachings of Islam; AND,
12. That very large portion (Perhaps majority in the near future) of Americans who have no desire to live in a bureaucrat run "nanny state" and wish the most-excellent teachings and principles of our Founding Fathers to again rule this nation---With special attention to the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution (Which should limit the Federal Government to specified tasks and limit the "commerce clause"), The First Amendment (Without government controls on free speech and as to the "free exercise of religion") and the Second Amendment which, as in the 1770s, enforces all the other rights.

Are Sub-Atomic Particles Real?

With the activation of the newest high-energy particle accelerator I again wonder if all of the many claimed sub-atomic particles are, in fact, separate entities or merely the same entity at different energy levels and viewed by different observational methods.

Another way of putting this, is the pantheon of such particles only the theology of physics' equivalent of "How many angels can dance on the head of a pin?".

No doubt that the high priests of physics will defend their well paying positions by punishing such heretics as myself as their counter-parts did to those who doubted the religion of global warming.
